Melkor motivates Mairon :33
And they could have fangs and stuff. What do you say?
Long time no OTP. Trying a more minimal coloring style. I’ll get back to my usual methods eventually but right now I am having a great deal of fun with this.
Aaand another Silmarillion lady for tonight: Thuringwethil, Sauron’s vampire servant. :)
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
I think of Celebrimbor hearing this for the first time when Sauron forged the One Ring and put it on his finger - knowing that despite everything, the suffering of the Noldor in Beleriand and the loss of so many of the House of Finwë, the death of Celebrimbor’s grandfather Fëanor and his father Curufin, despite the Elves trying to start over with new kingdoms in Eriador and forging magic rings to slow the decay of time - that it was all for nothing.
Sauron, the lieutenant of Morgoth, had returned to power and he had tricked and used Celebrimbor’s skill to do it.
18 Various Kinds of Opals
When most people think of an opal, they might think of a milky-colored stone containing a rainbow of stripes or flecks inside it. What many people don’t know is that they are incredibly diverse in appearance, and are not actually minerals. Opals are a solid, amorphous form of silica, and are classified as “mineraloids”. Like other mineraloids, such as amber, pearl, and obsidian, they lack structural order, or “crystallinity”.
From the top:
- Black Opals
- Cat’s Eye Opals
- Dendritic Opals
- Flamingo Opals
- Peruvian Pink Opals
- Zebra Opals
- Leopard Opals
- Yowah Nut and Koroit Opals (both have the same characteristics - they merely come from two different areas).
- Brown Opals
- Ethiopian Honeycomb Opals
- Green Opals (Serbian, Tanzanian, and Brazilian)
- Peruvian Blue Opals
- Matrix Opals
- Landscape Opals (Andean and Australian)
- Mexican Fire Opals
- Crystal Opals
- Australian Boulder Opals
- Ethiopian Ribbon Opals
(Side note - the image backgrounds are transparent, except for the matrix/landscape picture, which seems hellbent on being an asshat, no matter how many times I try to fix it)
I completely fell in love with gingerhaole's handmade halos, so I wanted to do something with it! This was supposed to be Vana and Yavanna sharing a sisterly atmospheric moment (also, flowers and grapes - lots of 'em), but if this means I accidentally start a ship I will rather just say you should think of them as random spirits of nature or whatever.
In case anyone is interested this is also available as a PRINT over at Society6, where you can get FREE Shipping and $5 Off till April 13. Click via this link to get the discount.
Lembas Bread (Lord of the Rings “authentic” Elvish bread)
2 ½ cups of flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
¼ teaspoon of salt
½ cup of butter
1/3 cup of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
½ teaspoon honey
2/3 cup of heavy whipping cream
½ teaspoon of vanilla
Preheat oven to 425F. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Add the butter and mix with a well till fine granules (easiest way is with an electric mixer). Then add the sugar and cinnamon, and mix them thoroughly.
Finally add the cream, honey, and vanilla and stir them in with a fork until a nice, thick dough forms.
Roll the dough out about 1/2 in thickness. Cut out 3-inch squares and transfer the dough to a cookie sheet.Criss-cross each square from corner-to-corner with a knife, lightly (not cutting through the dough).
Bake for about 12 minutes or more (depending on the thickness of the bread) until it is set and lightly golden.
***Let cool completely before eating, this bread tastes better room temperature and dry. Also for more flavor you can add more cinnamon or other spices***
as someone who has baked these A LOT
They are REALLY GOOD
and I am reblogging this because I KEEP LOSING MY RECIPE
Fuck yes. Now the real question is… Will they fill my stomach in one bite?
On inventing the “One ring to rule them all” verses
JRR Tolkien, part 3/?
Well, that escalated quickly.
Melkor/Morgoth & Mairon/Sauron, at your service! (●´∀｀●)
Sketches of Sauron’s armor during II Age (before Numenor)
I wanted to make a helmet in the shape of one of his animals - wolves, bats or snakes. Stop on Wolf’s Head
All of the love!!!
[ Three elven rings: Narya, Nenya, Vilya ]
Started painting this sketch, it’s a little slow going and maybe not the best use of my time but who cares, it’s Sunday night, I do what I want
I wanted to do Sauron’s hair black fading to gold, which is how I usually envision him when he’s being called Gorthaur, buuuut I guess we’re leaning a little more Mairon here. The gold looked better for the composition.
